How do you homestead when the land has a seat at the table?

In a pristine forest reborn from the ashes of the old world, the trees are tall, the air is clear, and the neighbors are articulate. These aren’t the wild animals of history; they are rational peers—who offer wisdom and command a terrifying respect.

Into this, homesteaders arrive, with tools and with romantic folly. But they soon discover that no amount of preparation can survive the reality of a world that thinks, reasons, and talks back.

Homestead-y (working title) is a collection of speculative stories about the birth of something better. It is a journey to the peace of the collective—a study in how true harmony isn't found in taming the wild, but in finally learning how to listen to it.
